Holiday Soirée a Main Street Tradition

A holiday tradition will continue in downtown Elkins as Elkins Main Street welcomes the Christmas season at the Downtown Holiday Soirée.

The public is invited to join the party Friday at CJ Maggie’s Armadillo Flats from 6 to 9 p.m. The evening will feature hors d’oeuvres prepared and served by downtown restaurants, live music, locally brewed craft beer and a selection of wines for guests to enjoy.

“We want to invite everyone to come out for a great start to the holiday season,” said Main Street president, Dr. Carol Carter. “Guests will enjoy good food, entertainment, catching up with friends, and knowing that their support of Elkins Main Street helps us fund the many projects for the downtown area.”

Four downtown restaurants will contribute a sampling of savory hors d’oeuvres and culinary specialties for the event.

The Kissel Stop Café has participated in the annual holiday party since it began in 2012. “It’s a nice way to start the holiday season,” said owner Jonie Schoonover. “We enjoy being part of the party, seeing many of our friends, and making new ones, too.”

The café’s signature chicken salad, served on crackers or by the spoonful, is always a favorite. Kissel Stop will also serve pinwheels and italiano skewers. The café is located at 23 Third St.

New to downtown Elkins, Savor will contribute a sampling of menu items and special party treats. The new restaurant is located at 121 Third St., formerly Bagels N’ Bites.

Located at 110 Third St., Henry G’s Café will serve seared tuna with hummus on crostini at the soirée.

Event host CJ Maggie’s promises to surprise guests with two or more special items made just for the occasion. CJ Maggie’s is located at 309 Davis Ave.

The event also provides guests with an opportunity to plan their own holiday celebrations. All of the participating restaurants offer catering for private parties. While sampling appetizers, guests can also discuss options for their special occasions.

Craft beer provided by Big Timber will complement the tasty appetizers. The brewery will feature their seasonal Frost Notch as well as the very popular Blonde ale. A selection of wines as well as other beverages will also be served.

The Armadillo Flats will be magically transformed for the evening with decorations provided by Tammy’s Floral and table coverings by Elkins Sewing Center.

In addition to these participating restaurants and businesses, the event is also sponsored by Mountain Valley Bank.

A talented duo will provide live music to entertain guests. Well-known local musicians Seth Maynard and Scott Green will present seasonal and standard fare throughout the evening.

All food and drink is included in the ticket price. Advance tickets are available at Davis Trust Company, 227 Davis Ave.; the Elkins Main Street office, 421 Davis Ave. #2; or from Main Street board members. Those wishing to pay by credit card may do so at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/downtown-holiday-soiree-tickets-19499556699. Tickets are also available at the door.

All proceeds of the Downtown Holiday Soirée benefit Elkins Main Street.

“Main Street appreciates the support and sponsorship of participating businesses that make the Downtown Holiday Soirée possible,” said Carter. “We are especially grateful to CJ Maggie’s for hosting our holiday party and look forward to greeting guests on Friday.”
