Randolph “Randy” the Chamber Elf is making his way to Randolph County to promote local shopping this holiday season and he’s working for the Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce. He will be traveling to twenty different locations over a 3 week period. He will begin his journey on Small Business Saturday, November 28 and continue through Monday, December 21. Randy will only be taking a break on Sunday’s.
“This is a spin on the beloved Elf on the Shelf book. We are hoping to generate some excitement about the local economy and encourage local shopping with this fun promotion, “said Jess Arbogast, Executive Director. “Spending money locally is a great way to strengthen our economy and the Chamber is happy to help connect shoppers to retailers this holiday season.”
Each day, the Chamber will post a photo of Randy at a new location and include hints as to where he can be found. Shoppers are encouraged to find Randy and take a “selfie”, and then post their pictures on the Chamber’s Facebook page. Each post, with a maximum of one per person, per location, equals one entry into the grand-prize drawing for a gift basket valued over $600. Shoppers can enter the drawing up to twenty times by taking a picture with Randy at each location. The grand-prize drawing will take place on Tuesday, December 22 and be announced via the Chamber Facebook page. The Chamber thanks sponsor, Frontier Communications, for helping make this promotion possible. The Chamber and Frontier will be adding a tablet to the grand prize gift basket.
“It’s a fun way to support local businesses and shop in Elkins & Randolph County. I think most people are pretty familiar with the Elf of the Shelf and this is an exciting commercial twist which will get people in the doors of our local stores” said Arbogast.
