With Spring leading the charge towards warmer weather and longer days, we’ve put together a list of upcoming foot races coming to Randolph County. Time to shake off the dust, lace up your kicks, and go the distance!
1. WAIC Healing Through Music Walk
United Methodist Church (Elkins, WV) | May 5; Check-in @ 4:30pm
The Healing Through Music Walk is an annual event put on by WAIC, but this year, Elkins Main Street will partner in the efforts. Participants will meet at the United Methodist Church parking lot at 4:30 p.m. The walk is slated to take place from 5-7 p.m. The walk will end at Elkins town square, where there will be speakers and performers. 2. Catholic Charities 7th Annual Race for Hope Marathon/5K
Allegheny Highlands Trail (Elkins, WV) | May 13; Check-in @ 8:30am
The 7th annual Race for Hope will again take place at the Allegheny Highlands Trail in Elkins, West Virginia. The event raises funds for programs and services for Catholic Charities West Virginia’s Weston Region. Refreshments will be provided following the races. Walkers are welcome for the half marathon (4-hour time limit). No separate awards for walkers. Expected field size is 150 racers.
Runners and walkers are guaranteed t-shirts for all who pre-register here, including those under 12 years of age. Availability limited on race day, so register early!
3. Tygart Valley Homestead Association’s Polar Bear 5K Run
River Bend Park Pavilion (Elkins, WV) | May 20; Check-in @ 7:45am EDT
The Tygart Valley Homestead Association invites you to join them for a 5K run/walk on May 20th at Riverbend Park. Register here before May 5th to guarantee a t-shirt and receive the discounted price of $25. All entries after May 6th will be $30. Proceeds benefit Tygart Valley Homestead Association’s Roofing Project to replace the entire roof at Homestead Elementary.
Come out, have fun, and support a school that is essential to all the youth of the Upper Tygart Valley Area. Many prizes will be awarded for different age groups and snacks and water will be available.
4. 4K for 4-H Run/Walk and Fun Run
4-H Camp Pioneer (Beverly, WV) | June 2; Fun Run @ 6:30pm & Run/Walk @ 7:00pm
The 4K for 4-H Run/Walk and Fun Run will support 4-H Camp Pioneer in Randolph County, WV. Randolph County has the proud distinction of being home to the first ever 4-H camp in the world, over 100 years ago. This race will help raise funds for renovations at the camp to ensure a positive camping experience for generations to come. For more info, see here.
