The Davis Health System Foundation is pleased to welcome Mike Bell as the Foundation’s new Executive Director. Bell comes to Elkins with great relationship-building and fundraising skills having led nonprofit health care organizations in Tennessee and Florida. He is excited about his new position as head of the Foundation and serving the region
“My passion is community -based, nonprofit health care,” Bell said. “The sense of community at Davis Health System appealed to me. Everyone I met showed so much enthusiasm for their work. There is a lot of momentum and positive energy about all that is happening throughout the system.”
Bell received a Master of Education in Institutional Advancement from Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor of Science in secondary education from Tennessee Technological University. “Mike will be a tremendous asset to our Foundation,” said Hugh Hitchcock, chairman of the Davis Health System Foundation Board. “ He has a strong background in both nonprofit healthcare and financial stewardship. I am both pleased and excited that he has chosen to lead our Foundation team to support Davis Health System in providing quality healthcare for the entire region.”
Bell looks forward to continuing the Foundation’s mission to advance health care through giving. “Our region deserves access to quality, affordable services,” Bell said. “It’s a real privilege to partner with Davis Health System to ensure that we continue to provide that. It is a great feeling to work together with staff and volunteers to give back to a community we call home.”
Prior to joining the Foundation Bell served as executive director of the Suncoast Hospice Foundation in Clearwater, Fla. and Vice President for Community Development at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tenn. Bell also served on the Board of Directors of LeadingAge and was past Development, Public Relations and Marketing Chair of the National Council of Hospice and Palliative Professionals.
Bell, who grew up in Tennessee, will reside in Elkins with his wife, Donna. They have two children, Stephen, 24, and Carlyn, 21, who reside in Florida. His children followed in his footsteps. Stephen lives in Tampa and is the program and events coordinator for a national nonprofit, The Obesity Action Coalition.
