Pine Needle Basketry with Anne Beardslee Andrew Carroll June 14, 2016 Anne Beardslee will be teaching a craft class in Pine Needle Basketry during Week 4, July 26-31, 2015. Augusta has offered craft & folklore classes since our workshops began in 1973, and we’re working hard to build our craft & folklore program with some new classes and old favorites. We have craft & folklore classes scheduled each week this summer. Week 4 is also Bluegrass Week. The ancient folk art of coiling baskets has been used by Native Americans for thousands of years. Learn to stitch together long leaf pine needles, produce a variety of trays and baskets and incorporate diverse basket centers and threads. Basic materials: $35; additional supplies available for purchase. (All Levels) Finding that she is happiest when working with her hands, Anne began coiling pine needle baskets and trays 12 years ago. She has been juried into state-wide shows, displays and sells her work in four galleries, does demonstrations and teaches this ancient technique.
